Heard about the digital course that tells you… not to use digital?

We all recognise the power of digital to help our business. We read about success stories all the time. It seems like we have to friend everyone in the morning, instagram our lunch, and 'do SEO' in the afternoon.

Maybe.

There’s no denying that digital has the power to transform a business. Yet it also has the power to do more harm than good.

This is when firms like ours lose sight of what really matters – our customers – and instead see ‘being online’ as an end in itself.

It isn’t.

We call it the 'digital tail wagging the business dog'.

That’s why we’ve launched an introductory digital course that tells you what to do… but also what not to do online.

To be clear: it’s not a technical, 'hands on keyboard' course – there are plenty of those around already and, frankly, you should be spending time on your business not on coding – but instead looks at what you should be spending time, money, and effort on.

The course is run by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. So it's all about how digital can help our company grow in line with its business plan.

Normally worth thousands of pounds, the course is fully funded by HM Government through the Community Renewal Fund. That means you’ve already paid for the programme. So now it's time to use it!

And you can bring along as many people as you like!

Here's how it works.

You pick whether to learn 'on demand' in your own time or by attending workshops where you get to chat with other businesses just like yours.

If you choose the workshops, then you decide if it's easier for you to set aside a couple of hours each week, for five weeks, to join a Zoom call or to come along for a day to meet everyone face-to-face.

There's a variety of dates for the Zoom calls. And we're in Norwich on 23rd April or 13th May, King's Lynn on 7th/8th May, and Great Yarmouth on 19th/20th May.

The choice of how to take part is entirely yours.

Either way, you get a whole bunch of material to help you: videos to watch, podcasts to listen to, quizzes to try, checklists to tick off, and workbooks to fill out. You’ll learn about marketing, websites, social media, CRM, cloud apps, and a whole lot more.

Better yet, you also get a comprehensive digital audit worth over £100 just by signing up. It's packed with recommendations to help improve your website.

So there's nothing to lose and lots to gain. Just remember that the programme finishes in May and there are limited spaces, so you need to sign up now.

If you're convinced, reserve your place by completing the form.

If you've still got questions, then hit the 'support' button at the bottom right of this page (it looks like a question mark on mobile) and just ask. We'd love to hear from you.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

What do I get from the course?

Designed especially for SMEs, the programme shows how digital can support place-based business in the post-COVID economy. It's designed to encourage you to adopt a more strategic, long-term approach to digital to grow your business in the longer term.

Note that the course is introductory.

What are you funding for me?

A compelling range of support is on offer:

  • short videos on key digital & media topics – such as websites, newsletters, social media, and SEO – that you can listen to or watch in your own time;
  • live workshops on Zoom and face-to-face to network with other local businesses, ask questions of industry experts, and apply your new skills;
  • checklists, templates, links, watch parties, radio shows, and other resources to make sure that your business starts the year on a high.

How can I take part?

There are three ways:

  • online workshops
daily from 5.30pm-7.30pm from 23rd May to 27th May
  • face-to-face one day workshops
in Norwich on 13th May and 14th May
    Great Yarmouth on 19th May
    King's Lynn on 20th May
  • in your own time
    with no workshops.

What can I expect from the online workshops?

You attend a two hour session each week on Zoom with around a dozen other delegates. This lasts for five weeks. You are asked to participate, with your camera on, but no preparation or prior knowledge is required (we promise!)

What can I expect from the face-to-face workshops?

You attend five sessions over a single day. As above, you're asked to discuss the topics with around a dozen other delegates.

What if I don't want to attend any workshops?

That's absolutely fine: you can choose not to attend but still get access to the same great resources described above for you to look at in your own time.

How do I sign up?

Places are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis to qualifying businesses – so it’s essential that you apply now. It’s fully funded (so you don't pay a thing) and takes less than a minute; just fill out the form. If you're still undecided, you can find out more about the programme below or ask us questions by clicking the support link. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Who is eligible?

Any business in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, or King's Lynn. Delegates must be 18 years or older. You are welcome to send more than one member of the team.

How much does it cost?

You've already paid for the programme. It is provided by a partnership between Norwich BID, King's Lynn BID, and Great Yarmouth Town Centre Partnership and funded by HM Government's Community Renewal Fund.

Do I have to do any work outside of the workshops?

No, but we hope you listen to or watch the material as it will help you get the most out of the course.

Do I have to participate in the workshops?

Yes. You will be expected to work with other delegates. Unless there is a good reason (and we realise there might be) you will be asked to turn on your camera during any Zoom call.

Which topics do you cover?

We cover five topics:

  • digital marketing
  • websites
  • social media
  • mailing lists
  • traffic generation

How do I find out more?

Please use the support option at the bottom of this page. If you're on mobile, it looks like a question mark (?).
